Easter

With Mary Magdalen at the tomb, and then Peter and John as well, we celebrate the joy and wonder of the amazing event of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, it caused many Jewish people to begin to believe in Jesus as the Messiah, the promised one of God. This did not prepare them however, for the fact of Jesus’ own resurrection.

Jesus is one in being with the Father, as we say in the Creed at mass every Sunday. He became one of us, being born of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. He did this so that He could die for us, as one of us, to free us from the power of sin. What Jesus endured for our sins on the way to Calvary He would have done for anyone of us, for each of us. So great is God’s love for us that nothing was too demeaning or painful a price to pay for our salvation from eternal separation from Him in the midst of the suffering in Hell.

My brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us rejoice and be glad that our God loves us so much that He would go to the very extreme of dying on the cross, to show us how deep is His love for us. Let us sing praise and bless His name and forever remember the fact of His love for each of us, especially in difficult or dark moments in life.

Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. Amen. Alleluia!!
